ABOUT CELEBRA LA CIENCIA CHICAGO

The Self Reliance Foundation in Washington, DC, founded Celebra la Ciencia (“Celebrate Science”) to increase Hispanic family participation in science and health education programs by establishing collaborations between local museums, community organizations, businesses, schools, colleges and universities, and the media. Celebra la Ciencia provides access to informal science activities through hands-on family science activities and demonstrations at local festivals, while providing information about career opportunities in science, technology, and biomedical research.

Celebra la Ciencia Chicago is a broad-based coalition of science organizations, museums, health centers, universities and committed individuals focused on providing hands-on science opportunities for Latino students and families at community events throughout the year. Among other activities, Celebra la Ciencia Chicago hosts an annual recognition event for middle school science fair winners and their families.

CLC Chicago is hosted by Project Exploration. Project Exploration’s mission is to make science accessible to the public –especially minority youth and girls.
